Doctor Who is one of the longest running TV shows in, well in History! Ever since the 1950's we have been keeping up with the Doctor's Wacky Shenanigans with it's companions. There have had 13 Doctors Plus a War Doctor for a total of 14! So without further ado, allow me to Rank the Doctor's from best to worst! Number 14 - The Sixth Doctor (Colin Baker)Before I start criticizing very single Doctor, I would like to preference that I enjoyed every Doctors performance, and even if they are down low I still respect them as an actor but more importantly as a person. Although The Sixth Doctor is pretty low, it's partly my fault. I have only seen 5-6ish episodes with the Sixth Doctor in it. For me he is just too wacky. As I will say in my next Doctor, the Doctor is supposed to have a both serious and wacky personality and when it is one or the other the show may seem too cartoony or to dramatic. So because he is too wacky for my liking and I have not seen enough of his episodes, The Sixth Doctor comes in at 14th place! Number 13 - The Third Doctor (Jon Pertwee)A trend. The Third Doctor is the Doctor I have seen the second least of with only around 10 episodes. In my opinion this Doctor is too serious and I feel with the fourth Doctor, BBC found the perfect way to blend both wacky and serious aspects into the character. Also the Third Doctor seems to be the Doctor with the most lost episodes which kinda sucks! Number 12 - The War Doctor (John Hurt)To use DnD terms, the War Doctor is true Neutral. Now the War Doctor has only been in four episodes, "The name of the Doctor", "The Night of the Doctor", "The Day of the Doctor", and "Listen". Although the War Doctor's personality would call for a Chaotic Good Alignment, it is because of his brief cameos and couple episodes that he is neutral. I thought his performance was good and if we got to see more of him I would be happy. He was a pleasant surprise and an interesting addition to the Doctor Who canon! Number 11 - The Second Doctor (Patrick Troughton)The Second Doctor also has many missing episodes, but from what I've seen he is relatively serious but still a little wacky. This Doctor was the first to introduce Sonic Screw Drivers but other than that he is a little forgetful. I enjoyed the acting, but the comedy was a little to British for me. Number 10 - The Fifth Doctor ( Peter Davison)The Fifth Doctor saw how successful and iconic the 4th doctor was at blending seriousness and wacky silly British humor and just became extremely wacky. Often overlooked he has his enjoyable moments. Fun Fact: The reason for the celery stick being in his coat was because Peter Davison was actually allergic to parts of the set and the celery stick would turn purple if it were to get so bad that he would be in danger! Number 9 - The Seventh Doctor (Sylvester McCoy)Being the last doctor of the original series you would think he would go out with a bang. To be honest this is probley the blandest doctor and if it were not for the couple of episodes written by author of Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy; Douglas Adams, he would have been lower. Number 8 - The Ninth Doctor (Christopher Eccleston)The Ninth Doctor was the first Doctor in the new series. He has a few kinks to work out, since the show is now 1 hour long instead of 30 minuets, but over all he does a good job. The Bad Wolf and Master episodes were good, everything else was okay. Over all and solid Doctor! Number 7 - The First Doctor (William Hartnell)The main reason this Doctor is so high (not like the 11th if you know what I mean) on the list is mostly out of respect. This was the first Doctor and thus was the most original. William Hartnell and the creative team could almost do anything they wanted and it would be referenced in a later season. Fun Fact! The Doctor Who tapes that held the episodes were so popular that the BBC had to label them as Torchwood (an acronym)! Number 6 - The Thirteenth Doctor (Jodie Foster)I swear the reason she is so high on my list is not because she shares the name with one of the actors from Silence of the Lambs. Since the Doctor is an alien, couldn't one of it's regeneration be a female human (aka can't a female actor play the Doctor?). This was a question that the creative team asked. So far the new doctor has been splicing up the fandom with critics, older fans and liberal newer films loving the new doctor but more conservative newer fans disliking her. Either way, the acting is good (sometimes a little cringey). The New Years episode was no Christmas episode but I still enjoyed it (I even did a Happy Dance when we saw the Daleks!). Oh yeah and she has Grahem! Number 5 - The Tenth Doctor (David Tennant)This was the first Doctor I started watching yet he is not at number one, only number 5? Blasphemy I Know. Truth be told he was an amazing doctor and there will always be a special place in my hearts for him. Although the 9th Doctor came before, the 10th doctor was really the one who started getting everyone envolved in the fandom again. Number 4 - The Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann)This Doctor was a modern gothic doctor who only appeared in a TV movie. In my opinion his movie was great and extremely underrated in the Fandom. Paul McGann's performance is spectacular and it would have been amazing if they uploaded this film into theaters. The Steampunk aspects and the British humor work spectacular here! Number 3 - The Eleventh Doctor (Matt Smith)Lets just state it clearly, The 11th Doctor is the shmexiest doctor of them all. But looks don't get you everywhere. The 11th Doctor also has some of most iconic moments of the whole series such as "Bowties are cool" and "Wibbley Bobbley Timey Wimey". The 11th Doctor also some of the most iconic companions such as Clara Oswald (partly) and River Song, both amazing. Over all so close to being number one if it were not for... Number 2 - The Twelfth Doctor (Peter Capaldi)The 12th doctor is my personal favourite doctor. I started really getting into the show (not a couple episodes here and there). I remember waiting for every episode to air on TV with my mum and being super excited whenever it came on. I loved Clara Oswald as one of the Doctors companions and found a lot of the mysteries really intriguing and the monsters exciting, but most importantly the humor always landed. I loved the trippy affects (something I hope they do more of) and over all he is definitely my favourite doctor. But why isn't he at number one? Number 1 - The Fourth Doctor (Tom Baker)Number one would defiantly have to be the fourth doctor. Tom Baker took his Doctor from being the laughing stock with an extremely long scarf to the jugernaught doctor with a whopping 7 seasons (almost 200 episodes!!)! He also has the perfect blend of wacky British humor and serious tones. This was also the doctor to introduce K-9, one of the goodest bois of all time! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Doctor_(Doctor_Who) Shenanigans and Companions,

Brief HistoryI'm a huge Whovian. I've been watching since the 10th Doctor but I started seriously watching with the 11th. When the 11th Doctor regenerated into the 12th I was so amazed! I also watch Sherlock and love the mystery! |
