Child's Play came out 1988 and follows Charles Lee Ray, a burglar on the run from the police. After getting shot a few times he finds himself in a Toy Store. Lucky for Charles, he remembers a voodoo soul transferring course an old voodoo master once taught him. He transfers his soul into a near by Chucky Doll and we cut to Andy, one of the cutest 6 year old ever! He's bugging his mum to by him a Chucky doll for his birthday and eventually she does, but from the black market. We find out that the Chucky Doll she purchased actually has the soul of a Mr. Charles Lee Ray (sound familiar?). After a strew of deaths, mostly blamed on Andy, Andy's mum finds that he's not lying. After a showdown in a toy store Chuck is F**ked and finds himself being melted into plastic. Of course, since this is Horror, that wouldn't las for long and in 1990 we were gifted Childs Play 2, often considered to be the best sequel and sometimes the best movie in the series. Child's Play 3, often considered to be one of the worst Child's came out 1991. Child's Play 4, titled Bride of Chucky came out 1998 and was following the success of scream with references to Halloween, Friday the 13th, A Nightmare on Elm Street, Texas Chain Saw Massacre, Scream and Hellraiser (look familiar). This introduced us to Tiffany, Charles's Ex-Girl Friend. Child's Play fans are divided on this movie, some saying its great, some seeing it as to the monstrosity it leads to... Seed of Chucky came out in 2004. 2004 is one of my favourite years for film. We got Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Saw, Mean Girls and The Incredibles but we also got Seed of Chucky. Due to Seed being hated by fans and critics alike, it wasn't until 9 years later till we got another Chucky Movie. 2013 we got the straight to DVD release of Curse of Chucky, a darker more grim take of the series. 4 years later, in 2017, we got Cult of Chucky. Since each sequel builds on the previous there is only one timeline when it comes to the Chucky/Child's Play Series.

After the Joy ride that was Wes Craven's New Nightmare, Director Wes Craven decided to go even more meta with 1996's Scream. Being a box office smash hit, Scream fused Horror and Comedy to great affect. The first film makes fun of many tropes that have long been in the Horror Genera such as the Virginal Final Girl, Saying "I'll be right back", the killer always coming back at the end and Not doing stupid things like running up the stairs and answering the phone. Even non-horror fans loved the movie (ain't that right (you know who you are) :D ). Scream 2 came out 1997 and again delivered right on target, targeting tropes found in sequels. Scream 3 came out in 2000 and is often considered by many to be the worst. A lot of the tropes in the previous movie are again discussed in this film only to a lesser extent. The new "sound like anybody" voice box is just lazy and the fire explosion house is too impractical to believe. Scream 4 came out in 2011. Making fun of tropes found in remakes, this soft remake while not being a remake is sadly the last Scream Wes Craven would work on since he tragically passed away not long after. Even though we would like to forget 3, There is only one Scream timeline. Peace, Love and Specific rules,

Brief HistoryBoo! Did I scare you? I sure hope I didn't! I've always been a spooky hooman. When I was really little I would watch the Classic Universal Monster Movies with my stepdad. Then I would watch tons of Stephen Spielberg, Right Now I'm reading Stephen King left, right, up (like a floating balloon) and down (the Green Mile). I also like Slashers but who doesn't. I am currently writing a Slasher Horror Comedy Hip Hop Musical with my friend KQ! |
