Not only is the mask, the song, and the whole film iconic but Halloween 1978 is actually in the Library of Congress. But where does this all start? In 1978 the first Halloween, a classic, broke box office records for what Horror movies could do. It takes place on Halloween, taking place around that year. In the film Michael Myers (child at the time) kills his older sister. ~18 years later he escapes and goes to his hometown of Haddonfield, Illinois to get his revenge. He kills a couple people and then follows Lori to the house. She hides in a closet and stabs him with a Hanger then his Knife and the Lumis comes and shots Michael 7/8 times Michael Disappears and the credits role. In Halloween 2, which is set the same night and we follow Michael through the hospital. News Flash Michael and Lori are Sibilings what?????? Lumis sacrifices himself blowing him and Michael up. 4 more days till Halloween, Halloween, Halloween, 4 more days till Halloween, Silver Shamrock. Halloween III is not cannon, hoping (and failing) to create a series anthology so guess what? It doesn't count! But basically what happens is this evil company (Silver Shamrock) is using stone henge magic to create these magical masks which will kill the wearers on Halloween at Midnight. Does it work? It's pretty ambiguous. Okay so then the crap show that is 4-6 happens. Unlike 1-3 you actually care about these charters and hate Michael Myers, but in these films (where the rights are transferred from studio to studio and the films show. In 4 Michael has this niece and wants her to join him, eventually she does, making her kill her foster parents but wait! In 5 its reviled that Michael was possessed her with some telekinetic power and thats how he made her kill her foster parents but wait! Later it's reviled that the whole reason Michael started killing was, wait for it, he's possessed by a demon known as 'The Man in Black'. 4-6 suck. Okay the Halloween H20 comes out, 20 years after the original. The 7th film. 3-6 didn't happen in this time line. This film is very meta, probably because it came out during the height of Scream (hint hint nudge nudge). This film is the one with L. L. Cool J. and establishes a new time line. In the end of this film Lori kills Michael and its a happy ending! Yay! Our hero wins and our iconic villain (no matter how iconic) is dead. But oh no. You forgot! Michael has magic! Michael is Smart! And studios want all that MMMMOOOONNNEEYYY!!!! So the sequel to H20 (seen as the worst sequel) and has Busta Rhymes Karate Chopping Michael and an Internet TV show. This one is weird. Then Rob Zombie (who I don't like all to much, films at least) and does a reboot but then it's all discarded for Halloween 2018!! This takes place after the first, establishing a new time line, and takes place ~40years later. I have not seen this one yet and will have a review when I do!
So Basically here are the Time Lines:
2. Halloween and II
3. Halloween 3
4. Halloween 1, 2, 4, 5, and 6
5. Halloween 1, 2, and H20
6. Halloween 1, 2, H20 and Resurrection
7. Halloween and 2 (Rob Zombie)
8. Halloween and Halloween (2018)
Shady Shapes and Shape Shades,
Boo! Did I scare you? I sure hope I didn't! I've always been a spooky hooman. When I was really little I would watch the Classic Universal Monster Movies with my stepdad. Then I would watch tons of Stephen Spielberg, Right Now I'm reading Stephen King left, right, up (like a floating balloon) and down (the Green Mile). I also like Slashers but who doesn't. I am currently writing a Slasher Horror Comedy Hip Hop Musical with my friend KQ!
